Running Analysis

A running analysis can be done to find inefficiencies in one’s natural running or walking gait. Analysis can be beneficial in that it can identify any deficiencies which could lead to injury including:
  • Calf Strains
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Hip Bursitis
  • Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome
  • Patellofemoral Pain
  • Shin Splints
  • Hamstrings Strains
  • Tibialis Posterior Tendonitis

Where Treatment Begins

Runners can endure pain from a diversity of issues. At Sport and Spine, one of our physical therapists will perform an inclusive evaluation of your current running habits, including:
  • Your medical history
  • Your current pain points
  • What incites the pain.
  • Any past or present treatment
  • Examination of your shoes and support.

We will then perform a  physical exam including:

  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Foot, knee, hip, pelvis mechanics
  • Observation and analysis of your gait

How Sport and Spine can help

The physical therapists at Sport and Spine can help runners get back from injuries as well as reduce the likelihood of developing or relapsing injuries.
  • Running Technique Evaluation
  • Thigh and Calf Strengthening
  • Increasing Hip and Core Stability
  • Increase flexibility in the lower major muscle groups ( Quadriceps,  Calves, Hamstrings, Glutes)
  • Addressing Pronation, Overpronation, and Supination
  • Shock Absorption
  • Training Strategies (frequency, training time, distance, environment)

Controlled care for running injuries is important. Runners that ignore the pain can devolop chronic injuries that may reduce training time and performance. Consulting a physical therapist that is trained in the evaluation and treatment of running injuries can help.
